The 411 about 401
- By: Ray Pellecchia
- File Under: NYSE, NYSE
Another couple of stocks join Phase I of the Hybrid Market today, bringing the total to 401 and counting. Here's the the updated list of activated Phase I stocks.
Joining today are trading symbols CRH (that's CRH plc, the largest-ever transfer to the NYSE from Nasdaq), and BACprB (BAC Capital Trust 6 1/4% Capital Securities).
And now, in keeping with sacred HybridTalk tradition, here's the requisite trivia about the number 401:
The area code 401 covers, er, the whole state of Rhode Island, including the cities of Westerly and Warwick, Cranston and Providence, and Woonsocket and Pawtucket. And no, I'm not going to give you a doggerel with Pawtucket in it, I need this gig.
The nice folks at the Ontario Ministry of Transportation have a Webcam that enables you to check out traffic on Highway 401 in Toronto, parallel to Lake Ontario. Will have to remember that for the road trip to watch the Yanks beat up the Blue Jays.
This is the 25th anniversary year of the 401(k). Every once in a while I throw in something finance related, just in case the boss is reading.
401 Records is "Your Indie Label" for local bands from the mid-Atlantic states including my native Jersey. Can't resist giving you the band names: Brokenfixed (hardcore from Franklinville, NJ); Coiled (Hard Rock from Washington Twp., NJ); The Foundation (alt from Sewell, NJ); Kervin (punk from Queens, NY); Last Week of the Day (punk from Riverside NJ); Loss (metal from Brick, NJ); Max the Dork (punk from Pitman, NJ); No Real Talent (punk from Milltown, NJ) and The Redundos (punk from Boothwyn, PA).
I emphatically deny that I posted those names in exchange for a drummer gig with The Redundos, though I would plug them again if they change their name to Raymond and The Redundos.
